Reverse the Curse was made for Damnationland, an invite-only showcase of five horror films that premieres annually in October at the State Theatre in Portland, Maine.
It was made with one goal in mind: To have fun. After a tumultuous several years since the pandemic and then strikes in the industry, we made this film with the intention of feeling the fun and magic of moviemaking, and hope that the audience will feel the same. The actors are real musicians and it features the silliest character of all: the dreaded evil piano.
With influences from Army of Darkness, the slow-moving menace The Blob (1950s), Ghostbusters, a little Kubrick, and Heart's 1985 music video for "These Dreams" it's a slow-burn (pun intended).
Logline: A classic pianist struggling to write a new composition for her master's degree unleashes an ancient piano curse and must find a way to reverse it.
